Dear ASCA users, Based on the RXTE/ASCA collaboration on the observation of X-ray afterglow of gamma-ray bursts, we have performed an emergent TOO observation of the GRB 970815 which was directly detected by RXTE ASM. The ASCA TOO observation was installed between August 18, 16:20 to August 19 21:10, by reducing the Fornax A west observation (PI: K. Makishima) from 80 ksec to 40 ksec. The unobserved half of the Fornax A west will be holded and supplemented in the next window. At present a half of data collected at KSC (Kagoshima Space Center) have been under analysis. In the field near repoted region of GRB 870815, ASCA detected an X-ray source at the position close to the error box reported from RXTE team (IAUC 6718). The preliminary results of ASCA observation is seen on the GCN (Bacodine) network. F.
